Anti-Social Behaviour

How do I report anti-social behaviour?

Please call Cadywn on 029 2049 8898 or speak to your Housing Officer.

What is anti-social behaviour?

Anti-social behaviour means persistently acting in a way that is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

A good neighbour is someone that is considerate and understanding of others. Being a good neighbour is part of your tenancy agreement and involves:

  • Keeping your home in a good condition
  • Maintaining gardens or external space
  • Not causing a disturbance/nuisance to neighbours

Some of the common things to cause a nuisance to neighbours include:

  • Loud noise music / TV
  • Slamming doors
  • Ball games near peoples walls and vehicles
  • Litter in gardens
  • Dogs barking
  • Drunken abusive Behaviour
  • Using domestic equipment (washing machine, vacuum cleaner etc.) between 11pm -7am
  • DIY between 11pm – 7am

Crime

As with anti-social behaviour, it is everyone’s responsibility to keep our communities and families safe.  This can be achieved by reporting crime in your community.  For example car theft, damage, theft and drug dealing can be reported directly to the police or via 101.  Also if you are convicted of a crime then Cadwyn Housing Association can take tenancy enforcement action against you.

Harassment

Harassment can include:

  • Intimidating behaviour or abusive language used because of someone’s religious beliefs, disability, race, sexual orientation or mental health.
  • Damaging a person’s property
  • Violence or threats of violence

How does Cadwyn deal with anti-social behaviour?

In order to take action against anti-social behaviour we need to have accurate information about times and dates, what you have seen and how you have been affected. We cannot work on anonymous information in case the complaints are malicious.

You can also call 101 – a 24 hour non-emergency number which deals with requests for non-urgent police services. This includes issues such as graffiti, off road motorcycle nuisance, dog fouling, abandoned vehicles and reporting drug related equipment.

What if it’s more serious?

If the incident is a criminal offence or you feel in immediate danger then the Police should always be your first point of contact – ring 999.

What do I do if I have a complaint about noise?

If you have a noise complaint you should let us know as soon as possible and also contact Noise Pollution Control on 029 2087 2087, for a 24 hour response.
