Why is Cadwyn involved in employment & training opportunities?

Our Future Jobs Fund Trainee Aziz Rahman busy on the front desk

Cadwyn is always keen to go over and above the traditional roles of a housing association by providing additional services to benefit the local community.

We first became involved in providing employment and training opportunities for the local community by taking part in the Future Jobs fund scheme. This government-run scheme was aimed at young people who have been unemployed for longer than 6 months.

Cadwyn offered 13 placements for young people through this scheme. The trainees completed six month work placements within Cadwyn and received on-the-job training and mentoring.

The trainees involved said that the experience had helped to increase their confidence, motivation and skills and they now feel much better placed to find jobs in the future. A number of the trainees went on to secure full time employment at Cadwyn and in other organisations.
