CalonAdref is a leasing scheme where Cadwyn is leasing homes in Cardiff from Landlords to be used to offer homes to families in housing need.
The project leases unfurnished properties from owners/private landlords for an initial period of 3 years.
Those properties have to meet a very high standard and be in areas of the city where the council are less likely to be able to provide accommodation. They have to have modern kitchens and bathrooms and be well decorated.
Applicants can be referred by the council, other homeless support services and by self referral andhave the right to choose if they want to be considered for the scheme. They can also choose the area where they would like to live.
Since November 2005 we have signed up 39 properties and housed 40 families, taking them out of hostel or temporary accommodation.
The properties will be managed and maintained to a high standard, providing reassurance to both Tenant and Landlord.
